For over 50 years, the SOC, one of the oldest communication programs among the nation's HBCUs, has been at the forefront of training culturally responsive professionals and scholars who can navigate urban and international settings with a deep sense of inclusivity and an understanding of historical legacy.
Many students enter the School of Communication at the Texas Southern to develop their skills in writing, speaking and creating media in the fast-changing world of digital technology.
SOC's Master of Arts degree in Professional Communication and Digital Media (PCDM) has become a popular graduate program concentration with over 150 students since its inception.
School of Communication students are involved in making films and videos, writing stories, creating websites, researching the complex global network of communication.
